Produced by Contemporary MAP, the new Documentary of Shoshana Brand "Building a Home In the Antelope Valley. What Is Home? Where Is Home?" is now for sale on DVD. The 45-minute movie tells personal stories of younger and older residents of the Antelope Valley, and contemplates on the universal theme of home. Shoshana Brand is the director, videographer and editor of this project, which was funded in part by the CA Council for the Humanities. Building a Home... is considered to be a hybrid of a Documentary video and a public art project. Personal moments in the life of people who have settled down in the Antelope Valley are interwoven into the desert landscape. Youths that were encouraged throughout the production to create artwork on the theme of home, are interviewed about their creative process. The project will continue to evoke public discussions and participation in many forums. Hundreds of DVDs will be distributed in schools and libraries throughout CA, contributing to the live process.
